GET INVOLVED
There is a place for you here
National MSA Research is powered by people who choose to contribute their time, experience, skills, knowledge and support.
Whether you want to volunteer at an event, organise a fundraiser, share your professional expertise, become an ambassador, partner with us or simply help raise awareness of Multiple System Atrophy, there are many ways to become involved.
You do not need to have a personal connection to MSA to make a difference.
Volunteer with National MSA Research
Our volunteers help make our work possible.
Volunteer opportunities may include events, administration, community engagement, fundraising, communications, technology, creative projects and other areas where additional support is needed.
Some volunteers may support us regularly, while others may choose to help with a particular event or project.
Fundraise for MSA research
Fundraising helps National MSA Research continue building awareness, supporting our community and creating opportunities to support MSA research.
You might organise your own fundraiser, take part in one of our campaigns, fundraise through a sporting challenge, celebrate a special occasion or create something completely different.
Individuals, families, workplaces, schools, clubs and community groups can all get involved.
Become an NMR Ambassador
Our Ambassadors can help extend the reach of National MSA Research by raising awareness, representing our organisation within their communities and helping more people understand Multiple System Atrophy.
Ambassadors may support awareness campaigns, attend community activities, share National MSA Research information, participate in events or use their own networks and experience to help strengthen our work.
Ambassador involvement may look different for each person, depending on their interests, experience and availability.
Expressions of interest are reviewed by National MSA Research before an Ambassador appointment is confirmed.
Medical and clinical professionals
We welcome connections with neurologists, doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and other healthcare professionals with experience or an interest in Multiple System Atrophy.
Medical and clinical professionals may be able to contribute through advisory roles, education, resource review, community information, professional collaboration or other opportunities aligned with their expertise.
Any formal advisory or representative role with National MSA Research is considered carefully and is subject to appropriate review and approval.
Researchers and research professionals
Researchers, academics and research organisations can play an important role in helping improve understanding of MSA.
National MSA Research welcomes conversations with researchers working in areas relevant to Multiple System Atrophy, neurological disease, movement disorders, autonomic dysfunction, clinical research and related fields.
As our research program develops, opportunities may include research collaboration, advisory involvement, community engagement, study awareness and future research support.
Partner with National MSA Research
Businesses, organisations and community groups can support our work through sponsorship, partnerships, professional services, in-kind support, workplace fundraising and other forms of collaboration.
We value partnerships that are genuine, responsible and aligned with our purpose.
Partnership opportunities may include supporting an event, campaign, community initiative, awareness activity or broader area of our work.
Move4MSA
Move4MSA encourages people to get moving, raise awareness and fundraise for Multiple System Atrophy in a way that works for them.
You might walk, run, ride, swim, take part in an organised event or create your own personal challenge.
Move4MSA will continue to grow as a dedicated National MSA Research initiative, giving individuals and teams another way to support our work while helping bring greater visibility to MSA.
Help at an event
Our events rely on people with many different skills.
Event volunteers may help with guest check-in, raffles, fundraising activities, hospitality, photography, technology, stage and production support, administration, setup, pack-down and many other roles.
You can volunteer for a single event without making an ongoing commitment.
Share your skills
Sometimes the most valuable contribution is a skill, service or area of professional experience.
National MSA Research may need support in areas such as:
- graphic design and creative services
- photography and video
- technology and IT
- marketing and communications
- legal and governance
- finance and accounting
- event production
- medical and health education
- research
- administration
- community engagement
If you have expertise that you think could help our work, we would be pleased to hear from you.
Not sure where you fit?
You do not need to choose the perfect role before contacting us.
Tell us a little about yourself, your interests and how you would like to contribute, and we can explore whether there is an appropriate opportunity to become involved.
Together, we can make a difference
Every volunteer shift, fundraiser, professional contribution, partnership, introduction and conversation helps strengthen the community around Multiple System Atrophy.
However you choose to become involved, thank you for helping National MSA Research continue working toward greater awareness, stronger connections and a better future for people affected by MSA.
