Donate in Memory

Honour a Life. Celebrate a Legacy. Help Create Hope.

Losing someone we love is one of life’s most difficult experiences.

For families affected by Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), the journey can bring challenges, uncertainty and profound loss.

Making a donation in memory of someone special is a meaningful way to honour their life while supporting a cause dedicated to raising awareness of MSA and encouraging progress towards better treatments and ultimately a cure.

At National MSA Research, we recognise that every person has a unique story and a legacy worth remembering.

A Meaningful Way to Remember

An in-memory donation is a charitable gift made to honour someone who has passed away.

It can be a way of celebrating their life, recognising their impact on others and contributing towards something meaningful in their memory.

Whether you are remembering a family member, friend, colleague or someone who touched your life, your generosity can help support the charitable mission of National MSA Research.

A memorial donation does not have to be connected to a person who lived with MSA. We welcome those who wish to remember someone special while supporting our cause.

Turning Remembrance Into Hope

National MSA Research was established in October 2024 following the loss of Adrian Klep to Multiple System Atrophy.

Adrian’s experience inspired his family to establish a charity dedicated to increasing awareness and encouraging research into this devastating condition.

His story reminds us that behind every MSA diagnosis is a person surrounded by people who love and care for them.

Through memorial giving, supporters can help continue this mission while honouring the lives of those they have lost.

Making a Donation in Memory

You can support National MSA Research through a one-off donation made in memory of someone special.

When making your donation, you may wish to provide the name of the person you are remembering.

If a memorial dedication option is not available during checkout, please contact our organisation to discuss your wishes before donating.

The amount you choose to give is entirely your decision.

Every contribution, regardless of size, is appreciated.

Remembering Someone Through a Legacy Fund

For families who wish to establish an ongoing fundraising initiative in memory of a loved one, National MSA Research also provides opportunities to enquire about dedicated Legacy Funds.

A Legacy Fund is different from a one-off memorial donation.

Rather than making a single gift, a Legacy Fund can provide an ongoing focus for charitable contributions, allowing family members, friends and supporters to contribute over time.

Approved Legacy Funds may include a photograph, biography and information about the person being remembered.

The establishment and publication of a Legacy Fund are subject to organisational approval and appropriate permissions.

You can learn more through our Legacy Funds information.

Supporting an Existing Legacy Fund

Some families may prefer to contribute to an existing Legacy Fund established in memory of a loved one.

Where an approved fund accepts donations, supporters may choose to direct their contribution to that fund.

Please ensure that the intended fund is selected or confirmed before completing your donation.

Contributions to a particular fund are managed according to the applicable arrangements and any relevant restrictions.

Browse our existing Legacy Funds and read their stories.

Donations in Lieu of Flowers

Some families choose to invite relatives and friends to make a charitable donation instead of sending flowers following the passing of a loved one.

National MSA Research welcomes enquiries from families who would like to nominate the charity for memorial donations.

If you wish to include donation information in a funeral notice, memorial service program or other announcement, please contact us to confirm the appropriate details.

We recognise that these are deeply personal decisions and respect the wishes of each family.

Memorial Acknowledgements

We understand that families may appreciate knowing that others have made contributions in memory of someone they love.

Where available, we can discuss appropriate acknowledgement arrangements.

We respect the privacy of donors and families and will not automatically disclose donation amounts or personal information to other individuals.

Any public memorial tribute, photograph or personal story will require appropriate permission.

How Your Donation Helps

Donations to National MSA Research contribute towards our charitable mission of raising awareness of Multiple System Atrophy and supporting the long-term advancement of research.

Our objectives include encouraging greater understanding of MSA, increasing awareness among the public and healthcare community, and supporting appropriate opportunities for scientific research.

We recognise that progress towards more effective treatments and a cure requires sustained effort and collaboration.

Research funding commitments will only be announced when formally approved.

Tax-Deductible Donations

Rare Neurological Disease Research Ltd, trading as National MSA Research, is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).

Eligible charitable gifts of $2 or more may be tax deductible in Australia.

The tax treatment of a contribution depends on the nature of the payment and applicable Australian taxation requirements.

Where appropriate, donation receipts will be issued to the person or entity making the gift.

Please seek independent tax advice if you are uncertain about your circumstances.

Every Life Has a Story

At National MSA Research, we believe remembrance is about more than loss.

It is about celebrating the people who have shaped our lives, recognising the love they shared and honouring the memories that remain.

Through a donation in memory, you can celebrate someone special while contributing towards a future of greater awareness, understanding and hope.
