The Ambassador Role

Be a Voice for Multiple System Atrophy.

National MSA Research Ambassadors help raise awareness of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), connect with communities and support our charitable mission.

The Ambassador Program provides an opportunity for suitable individuals to contribute their voice, experience and enthusiasm towards increasing public understanding of this rare neurological condition.

Every Ambassador brings a different perspective, but all share a commitment to representing National MSA Research with integrity, compassion and respect.

What Does an Ambassador Do?

Ambassadors may participate in a variety of approved activities, depending on their interests, experience and agreed responsibilities.

These may include:

  • Raising awareness of Multiple System Atrophy.
  • Sharing accurate, approved information about MSA.
  • Supporting community awareness campaigns.
  • Attending approved events and fundraising activities.
  • Helping introduce National MSA Research to new audiences.
  • Encouraging appropriate community participation.
  • Sharing personal experiences, where the individual wishes to do so.

The activities undertaken by each Ambassador will be agreed with National MSA Research.

Representing Our Organisation

Ambassadors help promote the mission and values of National MSA Research.

We ask Ambassadors to communicate respectfully, use accurate information and conduct themselves professionally when undertaking approved activities.

Ambassadors are expected to distinguish their personal opinions and experiences from official organisational statements.

An Ambassador appointment does not automatically authorise a person to enter contracts, commit funds, establish partnerships, organise fundraising activities or speak as an official spokesperson.

Any such activity requires appropriate approval.

Who Is the Role Suitable For?

The Ambassador Program may be suitable for people who:

  • Are passionate about raising awareness of MSA.
  • Support the mission of National MSA Research.
  • Enjoy connecting with individuals and communities.
  • Communicate with empathy and respect.
  • Are willing to follow agreed organisational guidelines.
  • Can contribute their time to suitable activities.

You do not necessarily need professional speaking or fundraising experience.

People with a personal or family connection to MSA may have valuable perspectives to share, but personal experience of the condition is not a requirement for every Ambassador role.

Time Commitment

Ambassador activities are arranged according to the responsibilities agreed during the appointment process.

Some opportunities may involve occasional participation in awareness activities or fundraising events.

Others may require more regular involvement.

The expected commitment will be discussed before an appointment is confirmed.

Ambassador positions are voluntary and unpaid.

Support and Guidance

Approved Ambassadors will receive information about their responsibilities and the requirements relevant to their role.

This may include appropriate agreements, organisational policies, induction and guidance on approved activities.

Internal documents and operational resources are provided through authorised channels rather than the public website.

Ambassadors are encouraged to communicate with their designated organisational contact when they have questions or need assistance.

Sharing Your Story

Personal stories can help others better understand the impact of Multiple System Atrophy.

Some Ambassadors may wish to share their own experiences or speak about someone close to them who has lived with MSA.

Sharing a personal story is voluntary.

National MSA Research recognises the importance of privacy, dignity and consent when discussing sensitive experiences.

Stories involving other individuals must only be shared with appropriate permission.

Becoming an Ambassador

Expressions of interest are considered according to organisational needs, suitability and the responsibilities of the proposed appointment.

An Ambassador appointment is subject to approval and completion of any relevant requirements.

Visit our Become an Ambassador page to learn more about expressing your interest.
